Spring is upon us! The smell of cut grass and the sound of birds chirping outside of our windows far too early on a Sunday morning are practically within reach. For those of you looking to escape the outdoors and enter the theater, here are 10 movies coming out over the next two months that look delightful. Let me know in the comments what movies you’re looking forward to and which ones we should review here!

Creed III

Release Date: March 3rd, 2023

Genre: Drama / Sports

Blurb: Still dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed is thriving in his career and family life. When Damian, a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy resurfaces after serving time in prison, he’s eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian — a fighter who has nothing to lose.

I am in love with Michael B Jordan. This franchise has been so great so far, and I can’t wait for the latest installment.

The Donor Party

Release Date: March 3rd, 2023

Genre: Comedy

Blurb: A woman realizes she doesn’t need a husband to be a mother after a messy divorce and wasted years of online dating.

I love a good comedy about a woman who doesn’t need men anymore! It’s interesting that Hollywood has decided to focus the story of a by-choice single mom on someone in her 40s when I know so many younger Millennials and Gen-Z who are planning on this already. Excited to see how it pans out for our leading lady!

Scream VI

Release Date: March 10th, 2023

Genre: Horror

Blurb: Four survivors of the Ghostface murders leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start in New York City. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage.

While I am not a follower of the Scream franchise, I know so many people who are delighted that it is returning for a 6th movie. Between now and March 10th I might try to do a mini-Scream binge to be able to enjoy this film.

Moving On

Release Date: March 17th, 2023

Genre: Comedy

Blurb: Two old friends reconnect at a funeral and decide to take revenge on the widower who messed with them decades before.

I love Lily Tomlin! She’s so cool and badass and I’m excited to see her and Jane Fonda in a buddy comedy. They both deserve to get real roles, and it feels like the two of them are pioneering roles for women over 70 who aren’t traditional grandmothers and housewives.

A Good Person

Release Date: March 24th, 2023

Genre: Drama

Blurb: Allison is a young woman with a wonderful fiance, a blossoming career, and supportive family and friends. However, her world crumbles in the blink of an eye when she survives an unimaginable tragedy, emerging from recovery with an opioid addiction and unresolved grief. In the following years, she forms an unlikely friendship with her would-be father-in-law that gives her a fighting chance to put her life back together and move forward.

Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman in one movie! Talk about the star power! I’m excited to watch this coming of age story. Just from the description it looks like it’s going to make me absolutely sob, making this a great addition to the movie lineup.

Air

Release Date: April 5th, 2023

Genre: Drama

Blurb: Sonny Vaccaro and Nike pursue basketball rookie Michael Jordan, creating a partnership that revolutionizes the world of sports and contemporary culture.

I am a bit unclear what is happening with this movie. It appears to be two white men making a movie about the way other white men took advantage of Michael Jordan. However, I am hoping that it manages to be well done and that it sheds light on the racial dynamics that went into Michael Jordan’s life despite his superstardom. At the very least, I hope there are lots of Black people and POC behind the camera.

One True Loves

Release Date: April 7th, 2023

Genre: Romance

Blurb: Emma and Jesse are living the perfect life together, until Jesse disappears in a tragic helicopter crash on their first wedding anniversary. Four years later, Emma finds happiness again as she’s about to marry her best friend.

I am absolutely obsessed with a romance that doesn’t rely on the “one true love” trope. As the title suggests, this movie seems to be about a girl who finds love a second time after her first husband goes missing. This looks so cute!

Back to the Strip

Release Date: April 21st, 2023

Genre: Comedy

Blurb: Back on the Strip is an upcoming American comedy film starring Spence Moore II, Tiffany Haddish, JB Smoove, Faizon Love, Wesley Snipes, and Kevin Hart, directed and co-written by Chris Spencer in his feature film directorial debut, and produced by Snipes and Haddish with Luminosity Entertainment.

This movie is going to be so funny! Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart are always hilarious, and I love the way this looks already. I’m excited for it to come out and to see a fun comedy in the theater.

Misanthrope

Release Date: April 21st, 2023

Genre: Drama / Mystery / Thriller

Blurb: Misanthrope is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Damián Szifron, from a screenplay by Szifron and Jonathan Wakeham. It stars Shailene Woodley, Ben Mendelsohn and Jovan Adepo. The film marks Argentinian filmmaker Damián Szifron’s English-language debut.

While Shailene Woodly is a polarizing character, I have been a fan of hers since her Divergent days, and my love dies hard. I’m excited to see how she does as a lead of a thriller. “Misanthrope” is an aggressive title and the red/pink color of the cover is equally so. I can’t wait!

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret

Release Date: April 28th, 2023

Genre: Comedy / Drama

Blurb: Raised by a Christian mother and a Jewish father, an adolescent girl starts to ask questions about faith and religion.

I cannot believe this is becoming a movie! Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, was one of my favorite books as a child. I distinctly remember finding a tattered copy in a box of my mother’s old books and binge reading it. I really hope the movie lives up to the sparkly memories I have.
