Happy Spring! Last month, I decided to alternate sharing new TV shows and movies every other month, so that you always have all of the latest recommendations. There’s plenty of good shows coming out this Spring, including a couple based on books which I absolutely loved! I’m definitely looking forward to adding new TV shows to my list this year.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies

Release Date: April 6th, 2023

Where to Watch: Paramount+

IMDb

You just know this show is going to be absolutely terrible, but the potential is RIGHT. THERE. The original Grease was so perfectly done that it’s nearly impossible to make a sequel that lives up to the standards, but I will be watching this prequel as soon as I can figure out how to get Paramount+.

Tiny Beautiful Things

Release Date: April 7th, 2023

Where to Watch: Hulu

IMDb

Tiny Beautiful Things is a TV show based on the advice book by Cheryl Strayed of the same name. I haven’t read the book, but I have read some of the “Dear Sugar” advice columns which make up this book. I love The Rumpus, the outlet where she originally published the column under a pseudonym. I am, however, a bit confused how they’re going to turn it int a TV show.

Single Drunk Female (Season 2)

Release Date: April 12th, 2023

Where to Watch: Freeform

IMDb

This has been on my list of shows to watch for a while and I haven’t gotten around to it yet! Now that it’s officially gotten a season 2 and it’s on Hulu (a service which I, for some reason, pay for despite not using it) I’m going to bump it up in my queue! It looks so funny, and after enjoying Girls I feel like this could be a similar delight.

The Last Thing He Told Me

Release Date: April 14th, 2023

Where to Watch: Apple TV

IMDb

I absolutely loved The Last Thing He Told Me‘s source material, the book by Laura Dave. It was such an incredibly well done mystery alongside mother-stepdaughter bonding. Plus, Jennifer Garner is an incredible actress. I don’t have Apple TV, but this might be enough to finally get me on the platform.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Season 5)

Release Date: April 14th, 2023

Where to Watch: Prime Video

IMDb

This is the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! The 9 episode season will end for good on May 26th. This show is wildly beloved, and I’m sad to see it finally coming to an end, but in the era of streaming it’s rare for even a great show to see five seasons, so I’m proud of everyone involved for pulling this one across the finish line!

Firefly Lane (Season 2, Part 2)

Release Date: April 27th, 2023

Where to Watch: Netflix

IMDb

Because this show comes out on Netflix, it’s a bit unclear what the true schedule is, but at the very least there will be one more episode of season 2 coming out on April 27th! I’ve heard nothing but good things about this show from people of all ages, and it’s definitely something I plan on watching!

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Release Date: May 4th, 2023

Where to Watch: Netflix

IMDb

I’m so intrigued by this! There’s a widespread love of Queen Charlotte in Netflix’s Bridgerton series thus far, but I think a lot of that is because of the charm of Golda Rosheuvel, who plays the adult queen in this story as well. I will, of course, be watching, because I am sure everyone will be and I love to participate in some good online discourse.

The Great (Season 3)

Release Date: May 12th, 2023

Where to Watch: Hulu

IMDb

How have I never heard of this show before! Just based on the photos I’ve seen, it looks absolutely hilarious. There’s multiple royal stories on the list this month, which is somewhat entertaining. What is our obsession with recreating a time where we were ruled by monarchs! I do not know, but this show looks entertaining.

Nancy Drew (Season 4)

Release Date: May 31st, 2023

Where to Watch: CW

IMDb

The CW is probably the next cable channel to bite the dust completely. It barely gets any ratings, and yet it persists. Nancy Drew was a book series I loved as a child, and I love to see a woman-fronted series making it past a few seasons. The only CW series I truly cared about was Batwoman (rest in peace) but I hear great things about this one as well!

What are you looking forward to watching this Spring?
