It’s a new month and that means it’s time for a new list. This time, it’s movies! I’m looking forward to watching so many of these in theater, to the point where I wonder if it could be financially viable to get an amc pass. That’s right, folks, there’s some good ones!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Release Date: May 5th, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters

Genre: Action / Adventure

I am not a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fan (read: I have never watched a single minute of a single volume), but I know many of you out here reading this article are excited about the prospect of another rendition. I’m excited for you guys! I hope it’s everything you’ve ever wanted!

Book Club: The Next Chapter

Release Date: May 12th, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters

Genre: Romance / Comedy

I’m so excited that this is getting a sequel! All four of these women—Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen—are all hilarious, and I’m glad they get the opportunity to act together again. This is sure to be a delightful romp that all audiences will enjoy. The perfect Mother’s Day release!

White Men Can’t Jump

Release Date: May 19th, 2023

Where to Watch: Hulu

Genre: Drama / Comedy

Jack Harlow is acting? In a remake of the 90s classic? I’m unsure if this is even going to be worth the watch, but since it’s straight to Hulu you already know I’m going to give it a shot. The basketball player in me wouldn’t have it any other way. At the very least, it’ll be interesting to see if it can even get close to the original. Hollywood industry find and promote new ideas challenge will have to wait for another day.

The Little Mermaid

Release Date: May 26th, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters

Genre: Disney Princess

I’m so excited for this!!! I love live-action reboots of Disney movies, as someone who grew up on the original Disney content and is no longer a huge fan of animation. I will be taking absolutely no criticisms on the casting choices. I’m going to be SEATED to watch our new little mermaid lose her tail and find her feet.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Release Date: June 2nd, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters

Genre: Action / Adventure

So many superhero movies are in our future! Spiderman is my least favorite superhero because he’s always played by a scrawny white boy whose girlfriend is hotter than him, but I admittedly have not seen this version, which is a cartoon. One day perhaps I’ll give it a shot.

The Boogeyman

Release Date: June 2nd, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters

Genre: Horror

This iteration of The Boogeyman stars Sophie Thatcher, the actress who plays Nat on Yellowjackets, my current favorite show in the entire universe! I can’t wait to get to see her play another role. Based on how excellently she plays Nat and the vibe she gives off in interviews, I can tell she’s going to be perfect in this role. Horror fans, get excited!

Shooting Stars

Release Date: June 2nd, 2023

Where to Watch: Peacock

Genre: Sports

This only-on-Peacock movie all about LeBron James’ high school experience looks so interesting! As a former AAU player, it’ll be fun to see the way they display the circuit on TV and explain it for other people who may not have grown up so entrenched in the culture. AAU is most definitely a distinct energy, and I hope they manage to capture that.

Asteriod City

Release Date: June 16th, 2023

Where to Watch: In-theaters

Genre: Romance / Comedy / Science Fiction

This is such a star studded cast and I cannot wait to watch it! I can’t tell if it’s going to be an incredible movie or if it’ll be exceedingly dull, but either way the combination of Tom Hanks, Maya Hawke, and Margo Robbie have me seated! This is a 1955 period piece directed by Wes Anderson, so the visuals are sure to be on point.

No Hard Feelings

Release Date: June 23rd, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters

Genre: Comedy

I cannot overestimate how excited I am about this movie coming out. Jennifer Lawrence is back, baby, and she’s about to star in a corny rated-R romcom. True cinema is returning, and I will be seated in the front row. The trailer for this looked iconic, and it’s sure to deliver on exactly what it promised.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Release Date: June 30th, 2023

Where to Watch: In theaters & Disney+

Genre: Action / Adventure

Once again, not a huge fan of the franchise. However, I have seen a couple of these movies and they’re normally at least fairly entertaining. My only question: isn’t this man very very old? How do men keep getting away with this? Here’s to hoping it will be a great film to go out on.

What movies are you looking forward to watching in the next couple months?
