Books By Marginalized Authors

It’s absolutely crucial for readers from marginalized identities to have authors that they look up to of their same identity. Reading a book about someone that you relate to is great, but very often authors just don’t get it right unless they’re also of that same identity. Because of that, I wanted to make a list where people could find books by authors that share their same identity. Some books can be found in more than one category because people fall into more than one identity!

This list only contains books we have reviewed on this blog. It is admittedly sparse but growing every day! If I missed any books that should be there, or if I added something that you don’t think fits, feel free to message me!

Categories are sorted alphabetically by author.

*Indicates that the author and the main characters do not share the same identity. In this case, books are sorted by author identity, not character identity.
