Welcome back to another batch recap of I Kissed a Girl on BBC3. If you missed my review and episodes 1-4 recap, make sure to check out my previous post. Otherwise, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, I talk about episodes 5-8 of I Kissed a Girl, the lesbian version of Hulu’s Love Island, getting us up to date with what has currently come out. I’m not sure if I’ll talk about the final episode, since my primary incentive for doing this is updating The Chart, but let me know in the comments if you’d like to hear my thoughts!

Episode 5

Episode 5 picked up at the Kiss Off, and the pairings were pretty much what you’d have guessed. Aside from Cara and Georgia and Naee and Priya, Abbie and Lisha, Eva and Meg, Fiorenza and Beth, and Amy and Lailah all paired off. That left Em, unfortunately, who came in the Masseria at a horrible time and didn’t manage to find a connection.

After that, it was time for the results of the compatibility question all the girlies were asked last episode. They voted Priya and Naee as the most compatible, and as a result they have to choose one couple whose heart’s not in it to send home. After some debate, they choose Abbie and Lisha, which is what I (and probably most of the audience) expected, but it shocked Cara, Georgia, and Eva, who decided to get in a little tiff with Priya over it.

Once they clear that up, some new girls come in to shake things up—Hannah and Thea. Hannah is keeping her cards close to her chest, but Thea’s cards are already out there, because she’s hooked up with Naee in real life! I was wondering when the teeny tiny lesbian community was going to rear its head!

All the girls play a game of spin the bottle where they’re forced to kiss people not in their couple, but for the purposes of the chart I’m not including it since pretty much everyone kissed everyone by the end.

Noteably, Thea and Lailah had a vibe and Amy and Hannah were vibing. This led to the end of Laimy and jealously from Fiorenza, who realized Beth is too much of a golden retriever and not enough of a black cat. She’s going to get Amy back, y’all!

By the end of the episode, our chart is….

Episode 6

In episode six, the girlies play a Dannii Minogue led game where they take a girl of their choice back behind a door and either massage, kiss, hold hands, hug each other. Amy and Hannah both choose each other, and it’s pretty clear the romance is blooming. Georgia mentions that Eva wants a foursome, and to be honest I’d love to see that happening!

With the new girls in the picture, Eva has announced she’s trying to stay secure with Meg. She’s a retired player, and Meg’s the girl she’s settling down with, at least for now. Fiorenza, on the other hand, spends the whole episode talking about how she wants to get back with Amy while Amy makes out with Hannah. Tough!

Meanwhile, Thea pursues Lailah, but Lailah’s heart is just not in it. This girl needs to take it slow and I’m not sure if this show is the right place for that. That being said, Lailah is the hottest girl in the Masseria (according to my total statistical and not at all biased opinion) so I’m hoping she doesn’t go home anytime soon!

Not much else happens, but we’re set up for ~drama~ in episode 7.

Episodes 7 & 8

I decided to lump these last two episodes together because not much happened that was worth noting in episode 8.

On Priya and Naee’s side, they’re stronger than ever and it’s so obvious that Naee is head over heels for her girl. She’s grinning nonstop and it’s honestly one of the more adorable things I’ve ever seen.

Georgia and Cara hit a rough patch because they’re not as touchy as the other couples and it was getting in both of their heads, but they talked through it and it seems like they’re going to be fine, at least for the rest of the time in the masseria.

Eva and Meg are also mostly good, but they’re definitely running into some tension surrounding Eva’s past as a player. Meg isn’t sure if she fully trusts Eva, and Eva isn’t sure if the rate they’re progressing is going to be sustainable on the outside world. To their credit, they do manage to talk about all of this—between makeout sessions—and I think that’s a sign they could make it. However, Meg said she was falling for Eva in a challenge and Eva said no, so we’ll see if they eventually go their separate ways.

While Lailah and Thea’s date was good, Lailah realizes that it’s not possible for her to move on and jump into a new relationship, and so she ends things. Lailah, Thea, and Beth all send themselves home at the Kiss Off rather than stay in relationships they don’t believe in.

I’ve obviously left the most dramatic situations for last!

In episode seven, Fiorenza finally confessed her feelings (in obvious, not uninterpretable language) to Amy. Amy said that she was incredibly confused, just like she’s been saying. Hannah found out about this through Thea, and that caused a second of drama but they eventually pulled it together. At the Kiss Off, Amy chose Hannah, sending Fi home.

This was exciting for a second, but then Hannah made a couple of off comments at a party (being too happy she got chosen over Fi, calling Amy “different”, and saying she talked too much) that created tension between the two of them and gossip for Priya. By the end, they seemed fine, but we’ll see!

More from Priya—she clearly hates Hannah and wanted Amy to choose Fiorenza. As a result, she’s been talking shit about her and all of the weird things she said about Amy. She made the mistake of talking to Eva about this, and at the very end of the episode Eva shared this information with the entire group in a therapy/intervention like setting. Eva wanted to diffuse the drama and stop people from talking behind each other’s backs, but from the coming up it doesn’t seem like that’s happening!

That leaves our final chart with…

Who do you think is going to end up together in the final episodes? Are you enjoying this season?
