Welcome to the gayest league in all of women’s international sports, or so I believe: the premier league. Women’s football (soccer) in the US is known for being slightly on the straighter side, but the exact opposite is true in Europe. While making my WNBA list and NWSL list, there are about double as many confirmed straight people as there are confirmed gay people in a league, with the rest being unconfirmed in either direction. However, in the Premier League, if you aren’t confirmed gay, you’re probably just an unknown, because there were veryyy few confirmed straight players. Wild times!
This year’s premier league starts the week of September 11th, so find out all you need to know about the teams before it kicks off!
As always, if I missed someone or if you feel like someone is incorrectly on this list, let me know in the comments or send me an email at writethroughthenight @ gmail . com.

Arsenal

With 9 out gay players on the team, there’s no shortage of players and drama to root for. Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead broke the internet earlier this year when they posted a photo together after Mead (and England) won the Euros. Previously, Miedema had been in a public relationship with West Ham United player Lisa Evans, but it appears she moved on to her teammate.
- Beth Mead
- Vivianne Miedema
- Manuela Zinsberger
- Noelle Maritz
- Jordan Nobbs
- Frida Maanum
- Katie McCabe
- Caitlin Foord
- Lia Walti
- Leah Williamson

Aston Villa

If you’re in the mood for some inter-team romance, Aston Villa player Ruesha Littlejohn is currently dating Arsenal player Katie McCabe.
- Rachel Corsie
- Remi Allen
- Ruesha Littlejohn
- Rachel Daly
- Emily Gielnik
Brighton & Hove Albion

With four out gay players on the team, this ranks in the middle for gayness, but closer to the top for inter-team romances, with Julia Zigiotti Olme and Emma Kullberg being publically together.
- Emma Kullberg
- Megan Connolly
- Kayleigh Green
- Julia Zigiotti Olme
Chelsea

Sam Kerr is probably best known for the “sportsmanship” photo that went viral between her and girlfriend / rival Kristie Mewis during the Australia vs. USA national game. The team is also home to Magdalena Eriksson, who is dating teammate Pernille Harder. Chelsea won the league last year, so it looks like they’re the team to beat again this time around.

- Fran Kirby
- Jess Carter
- Magdalena Eriksson
- Sophie Ingle
- Sam Kerr

Everton

It may seem like all I’m talking about is the intra-team relationships, but that’s because there’s so many great ones in the premier league! Nathalie Bjron and Aurora Galli are together, and their photos are absolutely adorable.
- Nathalie Bjorn
- Hanna Bennison
- Aurora Galli
Leicester City

If you’re a Leicester fan, I hate to break it to you but this is the least gay team in the league- at least publicly. The two out gay players aren’t even dating each other! Aileen Whelan and her wife have a whole child together though, so this is a very cute family dynamic
- Demi Lambourne
- Aileen Whelan
Liverpool

Liverpool players Yana Daniels and Jasmine Matthews are dating, and the other two out gay players are also in public relationships with cute couple photos on their instagrams!
- Jasmine Matthews
- Gilly Glaherty
- Shanice Van de Sanden
- Yana Daniels
- Charlotte Wardlaw
Manchester City

I honestly don’t know anything about this team, but there’s a lot of gay players and it seems like a fun team to cheer for.
- Lauren Hemp
- Demi Stokes
- Filippa Angeldahl
- Vicky Losada
- Hayley Raso
Manchester United

The only player on this team who I’ve heard of is Millie Turner, who is currently dating Rachel Daly. Daly, who is currently playing for Aston Villa, was a star on the Houston Dash for years before getting traded overseas for this upcoming season of European football.
- Leah Galton
- Hayley Ladd
- Millie Turner
- Lucy Staniforth

Reading

Not a lot to say about this team, except Emma Harries is dating Ellie Brazil, who is playing for Tottenham.
- Grace Moloney
- Natasha Dowie

Tottenham Hotspur

In terms of players actually on the roster, Shelina Zadorsky is dating teammate Rosella Ayane!
- Tinja-Riikka Korpela
- Shelina Zadorsky
- Kerys Harrop
- Kit Graham
- Rosella Ayane
- Ashleigh Neville
- Ellie Brazil
West Ham United

Lisa Evans is the ex-girlfriend of Arsenal player Vivianne Miedema, and I can’t wait to see the two of these teams face off in a battle of the exes.
- Abbey Stringer
- Lisa Evans
- Izzy Atkinson
- Claudia Walker
Feel free to let me know in the comments who I’ve missed! I will be updating this post as the season continues.
With 300 footballers at 25 per team, that is about 20%. Strange there is no out gay footballers in the men’s Premier League. The disparity is so sad.
